Who? Martin Parr
What? A collection of photographs portraying a series of exuberant shows of wealth in various locations and scenarios. Expect to see lots of people splashing their cash on fancy things. Although supposedly depicting the superficially elite, the series has a gritty quality to it, as Parr aims to highlight the dangers of sustaining a world where Western ideals of wealth and luxury are in such high demand. Perfect timing, as we all become increasingly more enlightened to the damaging nature of such ostentatious spectacles, so highly regarded by those with ample amounts of money, but very little sense.
