Who? Roman Klonek
What? Hand Beer Bar present a diverse retrospective of work from Roman Klonek, a Polish born artist currently working from a studio in Düsseldorf, Germany. He has an interest in old-fashioned cartoons, especially East European styles. In the 90′s he studied Graphic Arts in Düsseldorf and discovered a passion for woodcut printing. For 10 years now he has been creating works depicting a wide range of whimsical creatures, mostly half animal / half human, many in awkward situations. Roman’s work is a bizarre balancing act between propaganda, folklore and pop.
Out of the Woods exhibition is an exciting insight into his creative vision and individual style. Up-beat and optimistic, Roman’s work is a vibrant take on the sometimes warped world of comic art of the past.
